Hours of Operation
The Refuge is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, with closures on all major federal holidays. The gate closes at 3:30pm. Peak visitation time is in the morning, so we encourage you to consider an alternative time to help facilitate a pleasant Refuge visit. Please give yourself at least 40 minutes to enjoy your visit.
Entrance Fee
Reservations are required for all visitors age 16 and older in order to visit the Refuge and Lighthouse and must be booked online. An entry fee of $10 is required for adults 16 and older. Children under 16 are free. The $10 entry fee along with a $1 reservation booking fee will be charged for all individuals 16 and older.
Passed Honored Here
The America the Beautiful Pass, Kamaʻāina Pass, Federal Duck Stamp, and Golden Age Pass is honored here. Pass holders and their adult guests are required to make a reservation, which includes a $1 online booking fee, in advance of their visit to the Refuge. Passes admit the cardholder + 3 adult guests. The Every Kid Outdoors Program 4th Grade Park Pass is also accepted.
To use your pass, please visit the reservation site, select Kīlauea Point Ticketed Entry, select your date, under Quantity select “Interagency Pass Holder Entry” and enter the number of adults in your party. If you have trouble, please follow the procedures below (for those purchasing a new pass).
All Federal Recreational Lands Passes are available for purchase at the Refuge. The Kamaʻāina Pass (for Hawaiʻi residents with a valid state ID) can also be purchased for $20 on site. This annual pass allows visits to Kīlauea Point NWR throughout the year for the cardholder and 3 adult guests.
To purchase a pass at the Refuge, or if you are having difficulty using the “Interagency Pass Holder Entry” option, please visit the reservation site, select Kilauea Point Ticketed Entry, select your date, under Quantity select “Buy Pass Upon Arrival Entry” and enter the number of adults in your party.

Lighthouse Tours
We apologize for the inconvenience, however, tours of the interior of the Lighthouse are temporarily suspended, until further notice. Reservations will provide access to the exterior of the Lighthouse grounds, Kīlauea Point NWR and our Visitor Center.

Proceeds from all Nature Store sales support the mission of Friends of Kauaʻi Wildlife Refuges and the important work of our three National Wildlife Refuges.
